Ears

1. Bullies ears normally will stand by themselves but you may help your puppy reach this goal sooner.

    a. Puppies with the longer nose have a tendency of having ears longer and weaker. This accounts for longer development process to occur.

    b. Few puppies have a real problem but for those who do you can take action and assist your pup reach his goal

    c. We need to make this process as simple as possible. In many cases the ears will stand after the first treatment.

2. Purchase Johnson & Johnson waterproof tape - 1/2" x 10 yards first aide. Wal-Mart $296.00

    a. Cut 4 strands of 5 inches each. Length not important but just to give you an idea

3. Place pup on lap and fold ear in half

    a. Place tape on base of ear and wrap around ear from the base and upward towards the middle of the ear. Press firmly down make sure tape sticks to ear.

    b. Take a second strand and repeat process but begin at the top of the ear over other tape and wrap downwards to the base, press firmly.

    c. Repeat process with other ear

4. Ears should be pointing upwards and straight if not take tape off and try again, see pictures above.

5. I recommend that this be done at night before bedtime giving the pup less opportunity of removing the tape. As they sleep the tape does it's job.

    a. A firm no and occasional spanking not to harshly will alter your puppies behavior when they try to remove the tape. Be on top of them they do understand.

    b. I recommend removing the tape the next day in the afternoon. The reason is the tape will stick to the ears if left more the 24 hours. This will also allow the ears

        a time to strengthen without the tape support.

    c. Massage ears after removing the tape.

    d. Repeat this process until ears stay up without tape assistance.

(Note) Bullies ears as they grow will drop again not all the time but do not be discourage this is just part of the process. When this occurs I have found that repeating this process one more time solves the problem.  It's just the way it is nothing out of the norm.
